We Celebrate the Graduation of Our First #MSUrbanSTEM Fellowship
July 7th was a big night! A reception was held honoring our first MSU-WIPRO Urban STEM & Leadership Fellowship. The reception highlighted the innovative thinking, hard work and dedication of 25 extraordinary educators. Their journey started a little over a year ago. Twenty five fellows were accepted and the #MSUrbanSTEM experience began. The program consisted of face-to-face instruction and online collaboration. Three courses were required over the year-long commitment, with a focus on integrating mathematics, science, engineering and technology in the classrooms of urban K-12 schools.
Donna Calder is a graduate of the 2015 fellowship. Calder says the program completely changed both her thinking and learning. She bragged on the instructors, sharing they were very supportive, knowledgeable, and powerful. Calder says, “I am so hooked. I loved all the things that I learned. It has helped me feel more comfortable using and integrating technology in my classroom.” Calder enjoyed the experience so much, she is now enrolled in the Master’s in Educational Technology (MAET) summer cohort program at Michigan State.
The banquet was a splendid opportunity to honor a very successful year in collaborative learning, risk taking, and making things work! These educators are leading the way in implementing STEM disciplines into their k-12 classrooms. A special thank you to Wipro Limited for making #MSUrbanSTEM a valuable opportunity for everyone involved.
Congratulations #MSUrbanSTEM Class of 2015!
