#MSUrbanSTEM Well Represented at AERA Conference in DC
We are so lucky to have Christopher Seals, Rohit Mehta, and Inese Berzina-Pitcher on our #MSUrbanSTEM team! They recently presented at the 2016 American Educational Research Association’s annual meeting in Washington, DC. The team shared the relevance of rethinking professional development supported by innovative instructional practices. They delivered evidence of success in a session titled “Supporting Technology Integration Through Professional Development.”
Inese Berzina-Pitcher is a valuable member of our MSU Urban STEM project team. “Our goal for the presentation was to introduce audience to our program, present what we consider to be the innovative approaches to teacher professional development and share success of our program by presenting survey data we have collected throughout the program,” she shared.
The team also presented their working paper titled “Enhancing Urban Teachers’ STEM, Technological, and Leadership Capacities Through Innovative Instructional Practices.” The paper is co-authored by scholars Punya Mishra, Leigh Graves Wolf, Sonya Gunnings-Moton, Christopher Seals, Inese Berzina-Pitcher, and Rohit Mehta. It has now been submitted for public access to the AERA Online Paper Repository.
“The objective of our paper and hence the presentation was to address the overall design and effectiveness of the MSUrbanSTEM fellowship program. More specifically it focused on the inaugural cohort, the 25 teachers participating in year 1 of the project,” Inese Berzina-Pitcher explained.
We are lucky to have such an amazing support staff. #MSUrbanSTEM is making its mark!
