Joselyn Galvez Selected To Join Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellowship

An addition of members to the 2018 Trustey Family STEM Teaching Fellowship was just announced.  Our very own Joselyn Galvez, a member of #MSUrbanSTEM Cohort 3, was chosen to join 90 members across the nation. This will be the fourth cohort and is composed of teachers from ten different schools. The two year program is a summer learning opportunity designed to enhance STEM teaching and learning for all students, particularly those in urban areas. The fellowship is sponsored by the University of Notre Dame.  Teachers will be trained throughout three summer institutes and will begin their journey together in July 2018.
“My fellows and I will develop a STEM Impact Plan for our school.  I am excited because the #MSUrbanSTEM Fellowship gave me a strong network of support.  I feel like I have so much to offer,” Galvez shared with us.  “Thank you for giving me the knowledge in STEM and the tools necessary to lead others in a positive direction.”
Wait! There’s more! Galvez is a teacher at Frank W. Reilly Elementary School where Math Night is always a huge success.  However, the special evening got bigger and even better this year! Math Night was transformed into STEAM + Read Night.  “Everyone had so much fun! Steam + Read Night was so wonderful because it sparked student’s curiosity for learning, and it brought joy and excitement for everyone involved,” she said.
We are so #MSUrbanSTEM proud.  We celebrate these accomplishments with you!  Good luck in the adventures that lie ahead!
